The multicolored Rainbow Rooster birds generally look like any ordinary kienyeji birds normally reared in the villages but the truth is that the Rainbow Rooster is actually an Indian breed that is the result of the interbreeding of two high yielding indigenous Indian chicken varieties.
The Rainbow Rooster birds have all the characteristics of our local kienyeji birds including the taste. Since it was brought into Kenya, it has adapted quite well and many Kenyans actually confuse it for our local kienyeji.
